Kim Pichiarella

Kim Pichiarella, CPK, was first introduced to Kinlein as a client in appointments in Connecticut. Then, she met the founder Lucille Kinlein and began studying Kinlein shortly after. She became a certified Kinleiner in 1997. Kim had the honor of hosting Founder Lucille Kinlein at her home in CT many times when Lucille came to town to teach classes. Kim currently resides in Knoxville, TN where she is a licensed Real Estate Broker. Kim’s focus is working with real estate clients who are maneuvering major life changes related to all facets of real property. With nearly 40 years of real estate industry experience to draw from, Kim assists clients through phases of family and life challenges.
After a hiatus, Kim sought recertification because she recognized Kinlein principles in her work as a real estate agent. The understanding of the uniqueness of every individual along with the inherent human dignity in each person is foundational to her work. Seeing that uniqueness in each client has helped Kim assist her real estate clients in achieving extremely satisfying and realistic goals.
A lifelong learner, Kim is currently enrolled part time at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville pursuing a degree in Communication Studies. She loves interacting with students and instructors and expects to graduate in May 2026.
Kay Alley
Kay Alley has been a certified kinleiner since 1988. She studied with Lucille Kinlein and other pioneers through decades of development of the profession. From early on, Kr. Alley envisioned a panorama of implementation of the principles of the profession that might bring benefit to people. She explored areas of practice beyond seeing clients in an office setting, including assisting parents in caring with their children in day to day living and assisting leaders in an organization in operationalizing core values.
Her interest in education led her to take the first courses offered in kinleinal teaching offered by Lucille Kinlein. To continue her learning, she pursued a Master of Arts in Teaching through Alaska Pacific University. Her thesis documented her implementation of kinleinal principles in caring with students in a classroom setting. For ten years, Ms. Alley worked as a certified teacher within a unique charter school in the Anchorage School District, assisting parents in homeschooling their children. During that time, she enjoyed teaching science in varied small groups of students, kindergarten through high school, and was instrumental in building a program of small group classes that continues today.
In 2020, Kr. Alley refocused her energy and vision within the profession when called to serve as Development Coordinator in the Institute of Kinlein. In that capacity, she assists colleagues in building the infrastructure of the Institute to support the growing demand for education and research. Kr. Alley also teaches in the Institute of Kinlein Program of Study and is available for client appointments in her office.
Ms. Alley and her husband have six adult children and ten grandchildren. She enjoys occasional large family gatherings, camping in the summer months, traveling for professional conferences as well as for fun, and growing things, both indoors and out during amazing summer growing seasons in Alaska.
Linda L. Waggoner

Linda L. Waggoner grew up in the aspen trees of Colorado on the Arkansas River and was happy to come to Alaska with her husband, Paul in 1974. Linda and Paul met in Seattle, Washington where Linda completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing and taught for two years at the University of Washington School of Nursing. Linda has also been on the nursing faculty at the Anchorage Community College and the University of Alaska, Anchorage.
In 1978 she met Lucille Kinlein at the Alaska State Nurses Convention in Fairbanks where she was the guest speaker. Linda was very interested in knowing more about the care she presented and became a frequent Alaska contact for Lucille who resided in Maryland. Linda began her practice of kinlein in 1979 which allowed for time to raise four children. She has been involved in teaching kinlein concepts to a number of community organizations both in Anchorage and in Guatemala. Linda has also taught in the Institute of Kinlein since 2013. She has written and assisted with the editing of publications in the profession including A New View of Being Human. She currently resides in Anchorage with her husband and enjoys studying the Hebrew worldview in her spare time.
Loretta Ulmschneider

Loretta Ulmschneider, C.P.K. has had a lifelong interest in learning about ways to help people build on something that is already inside of them. She has a B.A. degree and was certified as a Montessori teacher. Her study of the theories developed by Lucille Kinlein began in 1981 and she was certified in the Practice of Kinlein in 1984. Since then she has offered kinleining to clients in office appointments, in their homes and other settings such as prisons and Détente, Homer.
Since teaching has been a part of her calling in life, Loretta was intrigued and inspired to attend 13 courses about Kinlein's theory of teaching and learning. She has taught courses as a faculty member of the Institute of Kinlein. Along with co-authors Grace Bates CPK, Mary Bolin CPK, and Linda Waggoner CPK, Loretta is an author and editor of A New View of Being Human and Caring-with, Textbook of the Practice of Kinlein. What has sustained her on this pioneer path has been seeing the good that kinlein practice and theory bring to people.
Mary Bolin

Mary Bolin, C.P.K., began her professional life in the field of nursing. After completing her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in her home state of Montana, she and her husband Max came to Alaska as a newly married couple. That was in the Fall of 1969.
Her first Alaska work experience was with the Public Health Service. She helped develop the then newly conceived Alaska Native Community Health Aid Program. After four years traveling and teaching in rural Alaskan villages, higher academia called. The next seven years, as Associate Professor, she taught in the Baccalaureate Nursing program at the University of Alaska, Anchorage.
It was in that time period that she met the innovative nurse educator, M. Lucille Kinlein. Kinlein’s love of human beings, demonstrated through assisting them in a way that built on everything that was good and strong and beautiful in the person, resonated with Mary’s own view. That meeting began a lifelong study and practice in what became the Profession of Kinlein. This has been her continuing and most rewarding professional pursuit.
Mary is on the faculty of the Institute of Kinlein and teaches the Kinleinal Program of Study as well as topical courses for specialty organizations and the general public. The practice and the teaching of the profession of Kinlein has taken her to other states and even into Central America.
She has maintained an active practice with clients for over 40 years, assisting them through “whatever life brings”.
Mary Giles
Mary Giles, C.P.K., was born and raised and currently practices in Anchorage, Alaska. She became familiar with the Profession Kinlein because her mother, Kay Alley CPK, has practiced throughout Mary’s life.
The concepts of dignity and responsibility from the profession are invaluable to her relationships in the home and community. Mary is regularly involved with plays as a stage manager, designer, or actor. She has a vision of integrating artistry in theatre with her Kinlein practice - assisting actors, stage managers, and directors in their working relationships. Mary sees the unique ways humans move through life both in reality and the world of the play. Theatre is an art by humans, for humans, and about humans. Kinlein is a new view of humans. The combination is profound.
Mary holds a bachelor's degree in Theatre from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She began studying at the Institute of Kinlein, Anchorage West in 2019. She became certified in 2022. Mary participates in monthly teleconferences and assists with Profession of Kinlein’s online presence.

Victoria Jenkins
Kinleiner Victoria Jenkins has had a practice of kinlein in Anchorage, Alaska since 2017. Her journey as a kinleiner started when she met Linda Waggoner who selflessly assisted her in caring for a dying friend. Linda, a kinleiner, helped Victoria administratively with the care of this friend. In addition, Linda listened to Victoria as she expressed difficulties experienced during this time.
Linda invited Victoria to read the book From the Love of Wisdom, A New View of Being Human. That book opened Victoria’s eyes to a different way of seeing herself and others resulting in her desire to study more about this profession. She entered the Program of Study offered through the Institute of Kinlein and graduated in 2017. After taking the National Examination for Certification and becoming certified in the Practice of Kinlein she opened an office and has been in practice ever since.
Victoria has participated in various vocations throughout her life. One that was dear to her heart was as an interpreter for the Deaf. She says, “In all my work experiences, being a kinleiner is my favorite yet. Kinleinally assisting people in living life and seeing them come to realize on their own a way to move in light of their situation/s is deeply fulfilling. I hope to someday expand my practice to include seeing deaf people as clients and perhaps teaching them about this profession so they can take it to the “Deaf Community”.
In her practice, Victoria is available to see clients in her office, and various other settings, including on Zoom or FaceTime as well as phone appointments. She is also involved in Kinlein activities including teaching, research, and focus groups. She believes that innate in us all is a desire to be a be of benefit to mankind. “For me, actualizing my calling to do just that as a kinleiner seeing clients, and as a kinleiner teaching students to become kinleiners, could not be more rewarding.”
Victoria is married, has children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all of whom are supportive of her involvement in this profession. Her family knows they can count on her to listen attentively without telling them what they should do but rather pointing to the knowing inside of them, inside of us all about what to do in whatever life brings.
Having lived nearly 50 years in Alaska, Victoria has been feeling the tug to go back home close to the Florida/Georgia state line, where the Atlantic Ocean calls. That “tug” is tempered by her love for Alaska and the many friends and family that compose her “life community.” She knows that wherever the next decades of her life are spent, the profession of kinlein will continue to be her passion and purpose.
